The app was built in a modular way, allowing updates to be made weekly without affecting the usability of the app. This allowed Investec to continuously improve the app weekly, from core updates to new features.
Investec provides global financial solutions for high net worth, corporate and institutional clients. A bank that believes extraordinary should come as a standard and is well known for it's bespoke personal service.
The private client app was outdated, buggy, inconsistent and lacking key features that clients expect.
Investec needed to create a personalised app for the UK and Channel Island clients that is easy to use, faster, fresh and with the ability to update weekly.
Being able to adapt and move forward to deliver updates more frequently, allowing the app to keep up with the competition, regulations and tech innovations.
Findings from user testing and a comprehensive audit, which involved client services and engineering, I convinced stakeholders that they needed to rework the app from the ground up to create a scalable and future-ready app. As I was lucky to be not only the designer and also an end-user, I quickly applied my vision and defined the guiding principles: Personalisation, Speed, Security, Readability, and Manageability.
This gathered great ideas to establish new features, functions and other elements to solve problems, which enabled users to resolve issues themselves with minimum difficulty.
Using the current app UI and flows helped to develop a strong brand that is accessible, consistent and user-friendly.
Working closely with the product owners, I created journey maps and wireframes, which allowed me to test the prototypes with Investec clients.
I worked closely with the app developers to ensure that the new features were achievable and whether they should be included in the first design release.
